Not sure whether womazzle will continue.  Google seems bent on making access to it difficult.  

I will try to keep the site open, but this might just be my last post for now.

Nei-ei-ei-eigh !

We have entered an age of religious warfare once more.

Or should we maybe say, the political war between the former colonizers and the colonized has moved from dirty politics to mighty religion. 

Even if the West is not fighting in these terms (yet), it has been engaged in battle.  The God of the West (is it God or Capital?) has become the declared enemy.

And indeed what a sad culture it is where capital erodes community and the losers are many. 

But I have yet to see a culture where community is not sacrificed to the questionable short term benefit of a few. 

So, off your stumbling horse!!

Thugs on Drugs

We all, who do not subscribe to shooting up beach vacationers, beheading civilians in front of running cameras and destroying cultural heritage sites, are clueless how to make them stop. 

Some governments retaliate by capturing and swiftly executing any potential subject.  But that seems to be only partially effective, since it predictably leads to martyrdom and further retaliation.

Others try to take the high road by steadfastly upholding principles of habeas corpus.

Generally speaking and in light of the centuries of struggles to formulate basic principles of human rights including a fair trial, that would be a good idea. 

The problem though is:  this does not get rid of the actual problem.

I.e., it does not get rid of a large, vastly dispersed, international cohort of young, violent males who have been radicalized to commit atrocities on behalf of one cause or another. 

We are not battling national armies or even militias any more.  There aren’t any clearly demarcated war or danger zones.  The enemy is safely among us, daring us.

The question is, can we accept him as what he is:  a male under stress.  Nothing more, but also nothing less.

A human in need of chemical relief.    

Don't Bother...

In Britain, harassing, mobbing and libelling colleagues does not seem to constitute an offence that puts into question the mobber as much as the mobee. 

When a female broker took her employer to work over turning a blind eye when she found out that a male colleague had been bad mouthing her to her clients over a period of years, it was HER who had to defend herself in front of the court of law providing evidence that she was not a “psycho bitch” and “chronic druggie”. 

The BBC reported about the case recently because it was a rare occasion where the victim actually took her case to the court instead of accepting hush money – mostly because to save her career she did not really have another option.

While the BBC report correctly emphasised the importance of this step taken, they concluded that it may nevertheless not be the preferable route to take, since the time and energy spent in addition to the considerable financial burden and emotional trauma and possible social backlash the victim may face may not be worth the trouble.

No mentioning on how to improve the system and forcing the perpetrator to provide evidence for HIS claims and placing the financial burden as well as the social stigma on HIS back.

Needless to say he has since taken a pay out from his former employer and moved on.  She is still dealing with the consequences of the libelling campaign.

Jeez Almighty

The recorded ramblings of one psychopath or another, whether you call them prophets or sons of god, it does not really matter, over time they have but given justification to self-righteous acts. 

All religions, including Islam, Judaism, Christianity even though they were created from the same little acorn of inspiration, have nothing but proven their utter uselessness for peaceful human coexistence again and again. 

Like boys throwing rocks at each other over whose daddy is the best, immature and excitable, their followers use whatever they can find in them to justify their blind acts of hatred against each other and to exaggerate its glory.

More level headed thinkers have long since agreed upon more relevant issues to focus on and more appropriate ways of conflict resolution. 

I despise religion and I can’t stand ideology.  But since humanity seems to be lost without either, I have not much to say for humanity either.

In our time

I know that just like Gallileo was not alone when he followed the logic of a truth greater than narrow minded, fear-instilled dogma, we are once again living in a time, where certain truths are well-known but yet unutterable.

We have messed up as a species. 

Worse even, we have messed it up for many species.  Through our illogical urge to reproduce beyond sustainability (and I will qualify this later, don’t worry), our ever more destructive race for dominance over one another (ditto) and our insatiable greed which has depleted our reserves and made deserts out of fertile lands and sud out of air, we are continuously tottering at the brink of one disaster or another.

Even if we have successfully reduced infant mortality, the spread of disease and increased food production, we have not figured out the main challenge:

How to inhibit our impulses and how to address our emotions.

The same impulse that drives us to excellence, also leads us into chaos and destruction. 

In one word, we are not able to direct our actions, we simply ARE.

Our highly developed ability to communicate, our empathy and our ability to plan ahead are at any time subject to impulses triggered by unrecognized emotions that can lead to terrible actions. 

This will never change.

There is little hope for our species unless we are WILLING to recognise that we are victims of our inability to control our actions in the long term. 

In the case of men, this simple truth has had grave consequences for this planet!
